Central idea: The appreciation of artforms can be determined by the individual.
Year 5’s new central idea for inquiry is off to a fantastic start, beginning with an inspiring visit to the Tate Modern. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring a wide range of art forms, showing particular fascination with the installations and the abstract pieces on display. This experience has sparked thoughtful discussions and will continue to enrich their learning in the weeks ahead.
In mathematics, pupils have been strengthening their multiplication and division skills, with a focus on squared and cubed numbers. They are also investigating factors and prime numbers. Continued times table practice will further support their progress.
In writing, the children have been working on setting descriptions, using an image as a stimulus. They are developing their use of figurative language and prepositional phrases to create vivid imagery in their work.
It has been a wonderfully creative and productive start to the term, and we look forward to seeing how these skills continue to grow.
