Central idea: Artforms can be used to express ideas and feelings.
It has been a busy and exciting start to the new term! We have had lots of fun and the children continue to demonstrate what fantastic learners they all are. We began our inquiry by delving into three different types of artforms, including a dance workshop which the children all really loved. They explored streetdance, ballet, salsa and finally bollywood before performing in small groups to the rest of the class. The children also listened to the music from the Nutcracker before expressing how the music made them feel by free drawing. This linked perfectly to our artist this module, Kandinsky who was a pioneer in abstraction and used music to help him create his masterpieces.
In maths we have been continuing our strategy of addition and subtraction focusing on looking at exchanging, thinking of our place value of tens and ones. Next week the children will start to focus on multiplication and their times tables.
