Maranacook Area Schools now has SWANK Video Streaming Licensing! Swank K-12 Streaming offers access to 30,000 movies and documentaries for educational use through our easy, safe, and legal streaming platform. Perfect for classroom instruction & homework assignments.
Swank Motion Pictures’ film streaming platform offers exclusive access to the largest single library of feature films, documentaries, and foreign films available to K-12 schools for instructional support. Featuring over 30,000 movies, Swank’s cloud-hosted streaming platform eliminates common obstacles – such as the lack of DVD players, blocked personal streaming sites, and DVD library maintenance. Plus, teachers can easily assign films to students outside the classroom through Google Classroom. Students get the link to the video you assign and cannot browse the whole library.
Our district license includes:
Unlimited access to the District Curated Collection which includes the top feature films and documentaries used in K-12 curriculum. (215 titles)
In addition, teachers have access to Swank's catalog of 35,000+ films, with the ability to request up to 300 additional films to be added to our school's collection throughout the year.

Public Performance Site License for your building.
Movie use in class, for homework assignments, and for non-educational movie events taking place inside your building.
Since we are not sure how quickly 300 movie requests will be made as a district, we are asking that requests for movies be made in consultation with our library or media center folks (Heather Chalmers for Elementary Schools, MaryAnn Florek for Middle School, and Liz Guillemette for High School). Please plan ahead since it may take a little time.

Here is a great intro video that Denise Churchill made for us:
One last thing, we will still need to deal with the "streaming issue" with the Apple TVs. Here is a great workaround:
Use Safari for this workaround. Chrome does not work for this one. Select the movie you would like to watch, then on the bottom right of the video click on the airplay icon then place a checkmark by the apple tv you would like to stream to. This will stream just the video and not the entire desktop.
A great feature of using this workaround is that the teacher can still use their laptop while the movie is projecting.
Please reach out if you have any questions!
