What is important to take into consideration when planning instruction? How do we plan for learning, not just teaching? Find structures, frameworks, and routines on this page that can support planning for instruction that includes considering what we must do so that all of our students can learn.
Setting Learning Intentions and Success Criteria
Think Aloud Vs Modeling
Use a classroom Smartboard to demonstrate or record during a whole group lesson. This tool works well in conjunction with Google Slides.
Use a document camera to share student work or make visible the page or document you are using in a direct instruction lesson.
Use your iPad to project an image in the classroom, or share your screen in a virtual space.

Retrieval Practice: What is it? How can I implement it in my classroom?
Spacing: What is spaced retrieval practice? What are some strategies I can use to space practice in my classroom?
Interleaving: What is interleaving? How does it strengthen learning?
Assessment and Reflection
Self-assessment and reflection How can I prepare students to use self-assessments and reflections meaningfully?
The examples below show how the teacher prepares students in a high school art class to apply the concepts and processes introduced in class to formulate a meaningful reflection. Students start by self-assessing. After practicing through multiple feedback cycles, they apply that type of reflection in a peer collaboration through a TAG review.
