Advocates for Student Privacy
Teaches and promotes student data and privacy through his or her instruction and role as an educational leader.
Current & Prior Practices
Advocate for student privacy while using web resources. Promote understanding of FERPA & COPPA among parents, teachers and administration.
Implement elementary digital citizenship curriculum.
Annually require signing of Acceptable Use and Responsible Use Policies.
Work with IT department to ensure:
Student device & data security.
Responsible use and acceptable use policies are revisited annually for students and staff.
Possible Areas for Growth
Support classroom Digital Citizenship lessons during library lessons. Develop a district-wide library curriculum scope and sequence including Digital Citizenship and information technology literacy skills.
Increase understanding among staff, students, and parents about the privacy laws.
Work with students and staff to improve understanding of AUP/RUP policies and basic tenets of privacy.
