Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is a student-based group designed to foster school spirit and leadership amongst students. Members of the SRC are approachable and passionate leaders who help to create, nurture and advocate for constructive ideas within the school community. Our SRC works democratically with School Improvement Teams to assist in decision making that affects the college and organise and plan ways for students to participate in sharing their voice and have input into enjoying the education at Manor Lakes College.
Students who wish to partake as a representative elect themselves to represent and advocate for all students within the college. There are 10 students selected to represent Years 7 & 8.
Students will be notified when and how to apply at the beginning of the school year
The members of the SRC change each year to maintain a fresh approach and a strong student voice and agency platform.
Students at MLC who are part of the Student Representative Council are:
Positive role models (presentation, uniform, behaviour)
Active in the school community
Punctual and attend school regularly
Building positive relationships within the school
Approachable
Active in fundraising for charity organisations as well as organising school events
Advocates for the student voice
Regularly attending SRC or Student Leadership Team meeting
In 2019 the 2020 student leaders held a working party to decide on re-branding the house colours in order to provide another level of connection to the school. A school poll was sent to secondary students to select an Australian Legend that would be the patron of the house.
All Year 7s will be allocated a house when they are enrolled.
Your house will be pinned to your compass home page
House group captains and prefects will be responsible for organising lunch time sports competitions, celebration days and other events where house groups can compete.
