Teachers use individual education plans to help them plan for PSD funded students to address the learning needs of their students. IEP's are used if your child requires support or assistance accessing their education on the same level as their peers.
The IEP of student's at the college are reviewed each term and updated collaboratively as discussed during Student Support Group (SSG) meetings. The student, their family, school staff, allied health specialists can all have input. It is imperative that all supports for the student work together to put in place the support student's need at school.
Individual Education Plans include:
the student's voice so they are able to be heard in the decisions impacting their educational needs
the student's current strengths and challenges
the student's learning needs and goals
actions that address the student's learning needs
roles and responsibilities for carrying out the plan
a record of important decisions, actions, student behaviour and progress
timelines for actions and reviews.
