All children and young people need support to help them learn. Through good quality learning and teaching schools are able to meet a diverse range of needs without additional support. Some children and young people will require support that is additional to, or different from their peers to ensure they benefit from education. There are many reasons why children and young people may need support to help them learn. Additional support needs can be both long- and short-term, or can simply refer to the help a child or young person needs in getting through a difficult period. Children can have additional needs for a variety of reasons, including:
having a disability
living in complex or vulnerable circumstances
their cultural, linguistic or family background.
As parents/carers, you know your child best and this plays an important role in their education. Working in partnership with our college we can help give your child the best chance to achieve their learning potential.
As parents/carers there are a range of ways to assist your child with their learning at home;
helping with homework
engaging a tutor
reading at home
building self-confidence
using online resources.
