Week Beginning 12th May 2025
This week we have been recapping on what we learnt about Mary Seacole. We recalled her life achievements using a time line. We will be using this information to help us write her biography next half term. Also, this week we have text mapped our own story and we shall use this to help us write our own story. We are learning to identify different trees as well as their leaves. We are observing how plants grow. Some questions that came up during our lesson was "How do plants get their food?" " Why does it take months before we can see fruits on some trees?" " if I pluck a leaf from a tree will it die?" You also could plant some seed like cress and encourage us to identify the changes that occur as it grows and ask us to name the different parts.
Week Beginning 5th May 2025
This week we were exploring different artefacts that belong to the Hindu Dharma then we drew what the gods look like and why they are special. They asked questions like " Why is Karma important to Hindus?" "Why do people do bad things?" In English we have been learning to change parts of a familiar story, text mapping helps us to organise our ideas before writing it down.We can then orally rehearse our sentences before writing them down. As a school we celebrated the 80th year of V.E Day and celebrated it by having a whole school street party. Thanks to all the parents who donated food to us. It was indeed a feast!

" The bark on some of the trees are falling off" We started a new Curriculum unit called "Leaving Home" We will be starting by learning about Mary Seacole and the prejudice she faced because of the colour of her skin during the Crimean War. We will be looking at the threads of Our Rights and Peace and Conflict. We will be asking for your help during the end of term when we want to produce our final outcome so watch this space!
Week Beginning 21st April 2025
Wow! we are already in the Summer term, how time flies. We started this term by taking our learning outside to find and look at the evidence of this season. We were able to point out the changes in the plants and our surroundings. We will be learning about plants this Summer term as well so be expectant of us sharing our knowledge with you. We also had a mystery object land in our class and we found out that the clues were to do with our English text called 'The Way Back Home' by Oliver Jeffers. We made predictions about who we think the characters in our story would be. After we listened to the story we wrote down how we think the boy was feeling while on the moon.
