This week we looked at how Christians celebrate Easter. We went on our own Easter Egg Hunt, we invited our parents in to come and make Easter bonnets with us and then we had a parade in the playground. At the end of the day these were some of our comments about the whole day." It was really exciting", " It was really fun", " It was the best day ever", " It was a nice parade", "It was a good day". We also painted pictures of flowers using paint brushes and forks and made a lovely spring display to demonstrate New life. We also wrote about the Easter story and made Easter cards.

We also wrote down some of the things done during this period. We made images of Amelia Earhart who was the first woman to travel solo across the Atlantic Ocean. We enjoy working as a team when solving jigsaw puzzls we had to think and listen to each other so that we could complete the puzzles.
On Friday we had a whole school science event and we made The Seasons Wheel we talked about the season we are in now and the sort of clothes that we wear.It helped us to understand some of the changes of our environment. We went further to use time and light to create an art work of silhouettes created by objects placed on paper that fades in strong light.

This week we were learning about Road Safety. We went on a Road Safety walk around the school and looked out for traffic signs along the way. We drew our own road safety pictures of us crossing roads with different adults. As part of our journey topic we tested out parchutes with tissue paper to observe how they float or didn't and thought of what we could dod better next time. That was very exciting. We also had the opportunity to compare what life in the city is compared to life in the countryside then we decided to draw pictures of what we thought the city and countryside looked like. We are continuing to develop our mathematical understanding and this week we focussed on doubles. We played a back to back double game where we had to match a half of a butterfly to another by giving each other instructions to follow. It was a tricky task!

This week we were comparing two different countries and we learnt some differences and similarities between them. The most excited day of this week was our World Book Day event. Some of our parents came in and read with us in the morning then we had a challenge of finding Wally in pictures from a book. it was very interesting and we had to focus in order to find him. We read and listened to different stories and story clips . We also wrote about the characher we were dressed up as in our writing books. Even our teachers dressed up. Can you guess what characters or books they were dressed up as? Finally some ouf us designed book covers for our favourite books.

We also wrote about how the animals were feeling on the journey and some of the things they said. We enjoyed making the dinner that we would eat on the plane during the journey in our mud kitchen. Some children decided to ride in the outdoor taxi to Paris and talked about all the wonderful things they saw on the way. We made a train chain in class and moved around the class in different ways.We are getting better at threading which is helping to develop our finger muscles to prepare us for writing.
Week Beginning 19th February 2024
This week we are starting a new topic about Journeys and transport. We started by looking at pictures of different vehicles and sorting them into those that have wheels and those that don't. We found out that if we look at a bus from the side view we will only see two wheels but it doesn't mean that it has only two. We learnt that trams run on a tramway track and they can take us to places within a city or town. We carried out an experiment to find out how a paper helicopter flies. We concluded that the smaller ones flew better than the large ones we made. We are also in the process of creating a class booklet about different modes of transport. So watch this space!

It is a lot of fun using these gadgets. Watch this space for more things we will be doing with them.

This week we have focussed on writing sentences that describe how the main character in the story was feeling. We also created faces showing the expression on her face when she was told her gran was sick. We have been learning how to order numbers and spot the missing number with our friends. In P.E , we are learning new skills that will help us move safely on diffrerent apparatus. We have created our own basket of goodies for gran but we shall do more work on this next week.
This term we will be looking at Traditional Stories, our core text will be Little Red Riding Hood. W e are going to be reading different versions of the story and learning how to retell the story. The non-fiction focus will be around a wolf and we shall write about it as well.
This week we made wolf masks, role played being a wolf in our outdoor area. We played what's the time Mr Wolf and very suprisingly we had a visit from Little Red Riding Hood's Grandma. We asked her some questions like " Were you scared of the wolf?" asked Alice. "What did the wolf do to you?" asked Sarah. " what do you like to eat? asked Caleb?" Then we freeze framed the scared look on LRRH when the wolf said his " all the better to eat you with". The children also created forest pictures by mixing colours to make green and brown. Then they drew, cut and stuck pictures of the wolf and LRRH on it.
