Reception Autumn 2023

This is the last week of  the Autumn Term ! We created winter pictures with shapes. We also made our own Christmas cards and went out to post them to our family members . We also performed a Nativity play for our parents and to finish the term we had a Christmas dinner and a Disco. 

Week Beginning 4th December 2023

This week our focus has been on Recycling .We decided to make our own Christmas tree from old boxes. We thought about the colours and mixed different yellows and blues to make green. Then we painted the boxes .Now we are going to make our own baubles over the weekend and stick them on next week. We also did some cvc writing of things that can be recycled. We  invested time in building friendships this week as we worked with our friends to make some lovely creations. We read books with our friends and engaged in role play with different types of props.

Week Beginning 27th November 2023

This week we decided to look at what firefighters do to help us and showed how knowledgeable we were about what these individuals do. We had our own firefighters training on Monday unfortunately we were to busy doing the exercises to take photos. We have been building buildings and putting out fires all week. We can tell you about what clothing they wear and talk about what they put on a fire truck. We did some observational drawings of fire engines and wrote a sentence to go with it.We created a range of fire pictures as well.We are also starting to prepare for our Christmas Nativity. Week Beginning 20th November 2023

We are still looking at "People who Help Us" our focus this week was the Police. We have  learnt about the role of Police officers  in our community and what sort of clothing they wear. We created our own Police scenes with pictures and labelled the different parts of their uniform. We recognise that they can help us when we are lost and they help catch criminals as Caleb said. Anas also said " they look for clues to solve crimes". We role played being Police officers in our outdoor area and gave out speeding ticket to our friends who were running around  instead of walking.  We also tried to print our own finger prints as we all have our own unique one. We were even fortunate to see a Police car speed by us with the siren blasting when we went for our Autmn walk to Westham Memorial Park. That really brought our learning to life!

One of our Manor Memories is to go on an Autumn Walk and we went on Thursday. The weather was really nice and we were able to see the changes that have happened in this season. We collected leaves,sticks and some berries which we used to create a collage when we got back to school.We spotted a bird's nest, some magpies and a few squirrels. Some of our parents came along with us and we want to say thank you to them.

Week Beginning 6th November 2023

This half term we started learning about Rememberance Day and created our own poppies. We also learnt about Diwali and read the story of Rama and Sita and how good wins over Evil. We had a go at  colouring divas by numbers , painting divas , creating our own fireworks pictures, sorting characters into good and bad individuals.

This week we have been learning to talk about all the things we can do. We have been having a go at doing various things. We have been sharing a nd reading books  in our class

Week Beginning 2nd October 2023 

What another great week we had with our story Kipper's Birthday. We focussed on celebrating ourselves by decorating our role play area , making party hats and making our own cupcakes. Since we were looking at the number three this week we used 3 eggs ,6 ounces of flour,sugar and butter to make the cake. We had to do the mixing ourselves and put the mixture into cupcake cases. Kristian said 'I love it, I like the vallina'.  Aaliyah said 'It was delicious'.Alice said 'It was very good'.The children really enjoyed this week's activities.The also played in the Sandpit making pancakes,cupcakes and chocolate cookies. They brought the language used while miaking the cupcakes indoors into the outdoor area. We wrote birthday messages, made our own wrapping paper and wrapped presents for each other to be given to us on our birthdays.

Week Beginning 25th September 2023

This week we looked at a story called "Kipper's Birthday" by Mick Inkpen. We talked about some of the things needed for a birthday party and then we used a collage to make our own  cakes.  We found out what invitations are for and wrote invitations to invite our friends to a class birthday party next week. We had some tea get to gethers with our friends in the role play area and created a range of meals for each other. We are also starting to learn our sounds so we tried to write some simple cvc words with the support of a sound mat. 

Hello and welcome to R.Goodall Year Group Site.

We started off this academic year by getting to know each other and we are starting to build some friendships. We are learning about what makes us special, the things we like and the importance of sharing with others. This is the focus for this term. We have started to draw pictures of ourselves and the members of our families. We read a book called ' My Mum and Dad make me laugh'. We are starting to make patterns using Lego and we shall continue to explore patterns in the following weeks. Have a look at some of the things we have done during our first few weeks in school.
