Time has flown by and we are in our last week of the spring term. This week we have been learning about the festival of Easter. We have had different egg related activites, exploring straw with chicks and eggs, decorating egg templates and using eggs to practice our counting.
We made cut out and decorated Easter baskets and then made choclate nests to go in them.
We ended the term with our EId and Easter disco. We danced and played with pom poms, streamers and balloons. it was great fun.

Many of our children are looking forard to celebrating Eid this weekend with their families. This week we have been learning about Ramadam and the festival of Eid. The children have made stars and moons to represent the symbol of the Islamic religion. Some of the children showed off their mendhi patterns on their hands so we decided to create our own using chalk and black paper.
In maths we have been learning the names of 2D shapes and named the shapes as we drew around them on large paper. During group time we found homes for them with our Mr Men shapes.
During free play some of us worked together to create houses for gnomes with the log construction.

We have been doing lots of painting this week. We have been using toy dinosaurs to make footprint pictures and outside we had the block paints to paint pictures on the easel. We worked together to create a cave for our dinosaurs by scrunching newspaper to make boulders to put on our cave, which we then painted.
We finished the week with Comic Relief day. As Comic Relief was 40 years old we had a retro day when we could dress up in retro clothes or red to go with our red noses. We danced to songs from the eighties and lots of fun to raise money for the charity.

This week we learnt about the features of the Dinosaurs. We also had science week and learnt about magnets, animals and enviroments and explored our outside garden for insects.
We had fun discovering the attraction of magnets!

This week was World Book Day week and our theme was Alice in Wonderland ! We did a lot of fun and interactive activites throughtout the week while working on our 7 key areas of development.
We explored different materials to collage our very own top hats
The top hats were inspired by the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland
Everyone had brilliant costumes on!
The whole school had a parade outside and we got to see everyones amazing costumes!
Nursery & Reception got together to do a fantastic tea party where nursery made the sandwiches (jam and butter / salad) and we had grapes, fruit tea (non - cafeinated) and an assortment of fruits and vegetables. Everyone really enjoyed coming together as two classes and having a tea party together and we all worked as a team to set everything up.

This week we started our new topics on Dinosaurs! Our goal for this week was to learn the main Dinosaur names. We also focused on learning our numbers from 1 to 6 and to learn our number recongition whilst also developing our langauge, fine and gross motor skills and having fun!

Small Dinosaur Habitat

This week we learnt Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and did fun activities like making our own stars and moons with an assortment of materials. We also used musical instruments to the Ryhme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We also made patterns using pegs and boards which develop their fine motor skills and their understanding of different colours and patterns, its also quite fun!
W/C 27/01/25
We have been learning about Lunar New Year. this year is the Year of the Snake. We made paper snakes by making rings and joining them together to make a head and body and used scissors to cut out spiral snakes. We practised our mark making skills by copying chinese writing inside with felt pens and outside with mud and paintbrushes.
We worked together to make a large dragon which we used in our Lunar New Year parade with the reception children.. We also developed our fine motor skills by folding paper to make small individual dragons.
On Thursday we looked at how noodles change when hot water is added to them and then ate them using chopsticks. We then pretended to cook them in the home corner for our friends.

This week we have been learning the rhyme Jack and Jill. We have made our own representations of Jack and Jill to help us remember the rhyme and have had great fun pulling up and lowering a bucket filled with balls just like Jack and Jill did at the well.
In maths we have been learning the language of capacity. During group time we measured out ingredients to make 'soup' to help Jack get better. Outside we have been filling up and emptying containers of different sizes.

Our nursery rhyme this week is Hickory Dickory Dock. We have been making representations of clocks and mice to help us rehearse the rhyme. We have been practicing to write our numbers on whiteboards and outside we have been playing What's the time Mr Wolf to help us count our steps.
Outside we have been exploring forces by making ramps at different heights and rolling cars down them. We have also been very busy cleaning the taxi.

Happy New Year to everyone. The children have back eager to learn and share their experiences over the holidays. This term our topic is Nursery Rhymes. We will be focusing on the children's speaking and listening and developing vocabulary. To start us off we have learnt the rhyme Humpty Dumpty. We used paints to print a wall and then created our Humptys to sit on them. We practiced our cutting skills by cutting a Humpty Dumpty picture up and thenputting it back together again.
In maths we have been learning to count out the correct number of soldiers to the number on our Humpty Dumpty. Outside we have been devloping our number recognition and gross motor skills by playing hopscotch.
During free play we have had lots of fun with the trains inside and outside and the girls have been busy creating their own stories
