Robust writing skills are an important goal for tamariki in Pukeko class and focuses on teaching tamariki to write for a variety of purposes, using the codes, conventions, and structures that enable others to understand what they have written.
In term one our key focus areas are:-
Correct Pencil Grip
Explicit instruction in letter knowledge
Integrating phonics as a key tool to enable tamariki to "crack the code" of written language by linking the sounds of spoken English (phonemes) with individual letters or groups of letters (graphemes).
