Te Ao Māori 

Te Reo me ngā tikanga are embedded through out the day as an integral part of the curriculum here in Pukeko class. Tamariki experience a wide range of opportunities to experience te reo and tikanga in authentic and meaningful ways. We start each day with Taumata where we are growing our confidence with the school Karakia, Tauparapara, Whakatauki, Vision, Values and Waiata.

This term as a school we are exploring the concepts of  the foundations of Fair Play Being kind, being respectful, and being safe.  

Pukeko specific Big Idea:  Manaakitanga -  I can make good decisions during my school day to benefit myself and others -Kaitiaki of self,  Kaitiaki of others and Kaitiaki of Papatuanuku.

“He aroha whakatō, he aroha puta mai." 

 "If kindness is sown, then kindness you shall receive

This core principle of reciprocity, or aroha atu, aroha mai (love given, love returned), represents how the energy you put into the world comes back to you.
