In Year 13 History (NCEA Level 3) during 2026, students will develop advanced historical research, analysis, and critical thinking skills through the study of significant historical events and perspectives. During the year, students will research and investigate the Influenza Pandemic using primary and secondary sources, analyse significant historical events such as the Atomic Bombings, examine different perspectives of contested historical events, and study the causes and consequences of major global events such as 9/11 (or another approved NCEA topic). Students will work towards NCEA Level 3 achievement standards through a combination of internal and external assessments, supported by research, source analysis, discussion, and digital learning through Hāpara. In class, students are expected to be respectful, stay on task, meet assessment deadlines, and actively engage in deeper historical thinking and discussion. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students can think independently, analyse complex historical evidence, and achieve success in History.
