In Year 11 History (NCEA Level 1) during 2026, students will develop skills in analysing historical events, sources, and perspectives while studying important local and international historical contexts. Throughout the year, we will investigate topics such as Parihaka through primary sources, the historical significance of the lynching of Emmett Till, the 1975 Land March and its importance to Aotearoa New Zealand, and different perspectives during the Springbok Tour. Students will work towards NCEA Level 1 achievement standards through a mix of internal and external assessments, supported by class learning, source analysis, discussions, and digital learning through Hāpara. In class, students are expected to be respectful, stay on task, complete assessments and classwork on time, and actively participate in learning. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel confident to think critically, ask questions, and succeed in History.
