Course Description

This course is a continuation of CHY 113, providing the second semester of the typical full year general chemistry sequence. Major topics covered include: Kinetics, Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry, and Nuclear Chemistry. This course and CHY 116 (normally taken concurrently) provide the basis for further study of chemistry.

Prerequisite: Grade of C or higher in CHY 113

Course Goals

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

• Interpret properties and behaviors of materials in terms of atomic and molecular interactions

• Be more confident in your ability to set up and solve problems

• Make decisions based on sound scientific reasoning and principles
