Program type: Faculty led with GVSU COWA (Connecting Worlds Abroad)
Most time spent in: Seville, Spain
Length: 6 weeks
Semester/Year: Spring 2023
Year at GVSU when studied abroad: between Sophomore and Junior year
It was faculty led from GV so I felt like I would feel more connected to home that way and also maybe see some people who I might recognize from school.
Class in the morning. Lunch afterwards. Study time, and then walking around eating or doing photos and getting lost because google maps was dreadful over there.
I wish I had gone with a friend I already knew. I think I did a good job of preparing myself, but I felt really alone.
"...just enjoy yourself at your own pace..."
Sometimes locals are not as friendly as most people think. It is not a reflection on who you are or how hard you are working. Also, you do you. Don’t worry about what other people are going to do during the program; just enjoy yourself at your own pace and if you can and want to join in, do it!! Try and find people who make you happy to be around and stick with them.
