Parliament

“Take this guinea and with it burn the college to the ground.”

– Virginia Woolf, Three Guineas;

inspired by a visit to the Parliament of the United Kingdom

And after dedicating all of my life to changing the world, one person,

one brick– one atom at a time,

in the end, nothing had changed.

So I took the coin, that was so

easily in control of their lives,

and with it, I took control of them–

and I saw was for their own good:

like sheep in a pasture, herded by

dogs on a leash, to be lead around by someone who will be less kind than the last shepherd,

until someone picks up where I left, reaches the eight billionth person– the final brick of the mansion,

and burns it all to the ground.
