Praxis Requirements

All Kansas Praxis Test Requirements are available for each licensure area. 

To earn your Full Endorsement, you must pass the Praxis exam (see program-specific exams noted below), which can be taken at any point in the program. We recommend that you take it toward the end of the program. When registering for the test, be sure to choose “Fort Hays State University” as a score recipient.  Allow 2-3 weeks from the close of the testing window for results to be available.

High Incidence Special Education

If you are in one of the High Incidence Special Education programs (MS-SPED, Endorsement Only, Limited Residency License), you will need to take the Praxis 5355 SPED: Foundational Knowledge. The passing score is 145.

Low Incidence Special Education

If you are in one of the Low Incidence special Education programs (MS-SPED, Endorsement Only, Limited Residency License), you will need to take the Praxis 5547 Special Educaiton: Severe to Profound. The passing score is 156.

Gifted Special Education 

If you are in the Gifted Special Education Program (MS-SPED, Endorsement Only), you will need to take the Praxis: Gifted Education test (5358).  The passing scores is 157.
