I selected my topic for my Senior Thesis due to my love for film and TV shows. I have always been very passionate about movies and characters since I was a kid. I think it mostly all started when my dad took me to see Transformers in 2007, when I was six years old. I immediately fell in love with the characters and wanted action figures for myself. I realized how strong of a connection I had with these characters and decided I wanted to study these relationships with others. I wanted to show my passion for film and fictional characters, specifically highlighting that these relationships are more powerful, and more emotional than many people realize.
I concluded that this topic was of importance to viewers of these TV shows who feel extreme emotion and feel like they are crazy. I also wanted to show film creators how certain aspects of their characters can influence stronger connections among viewers. If there is a way to make viewers feel stronger relationships with characters then I think that is worth noting.
Throughout the course of this project, I had so much fun researching TV shows, and films to further my knowledge of the industry. My last internship was within film, and I hope to continue this passion for film throughout my career.
