WELCOME TO OUR FIRST NEWSLETTER! 

Hi CCSF! Welcome to our first Associated Student Council Ocean newsletter of the 2021-2022 school year! These monthly newsletters will include reports from your own Ocean council on new projects and events we’re working on! We know it can be tough doing school online, but hopefully, our newsletter can be one of the ways we help you feel connected to our council. Look forward to fun holiday-themed memes and recipes, as well as updates to school related news such as the progress of returning to campus and opportunities to join ASCO as a senator (More information in the upcoming pages)! If there are ever any recommendations on items you’d like us to add to our newsletters, please send me an email (asco.pr@mail.ccsf.edu). Senator of The Month

DALTZWER OLIVEROS

Our Senator of the Month for October is Daltzwer Oliveros. Daltzwer serves as the Vice-Chair of the R&R committee and always volunteers to help others out whenever they need it. He puts himself out there and makes time despite all the different committees and projects he’s involved with. All around, most on our council consider him a team player, a hard worker, and a great friend. We are honored to have Daltzwer serve on our council and excited to see everything he’s capable of to help better our school!

Hello everyone! I am very excited to get this year started and to plan some really fun events for all of the students at CCSF! I am very grateful I get to work with such an awesome team at ICC and the Associated Student council. We have a lot in store for CCSF and I cannot wait for all the students to take part in our events!

World Teacher's Day

Teachers provide the power of education to today's youth. Teachers gives us support and they often encourage us. Therefore, Teachers around the world deserves lots of recognition and appreciation. Happy World Teacher's Day and remember to recognize and express your gratitude to your teacher that day!

National Pasta Day

Did you know there is over 600 pasta shapes! Pasta has a very long history and pasta noodles are made from dough consisting of water, flour, and sometimes other spices and ingredients. To celebrate this holiday, you should enjoy your pasta or try to make the pasta noodles yourself. Enjoy your holidays!

Arata Pumpkin Farm - Half Moon Bay, CA

Established in 1932, this pumpkin farm is the oldest sustainable pumpkin farm in San Mateo county! Located in beautiful Half Moon Bay, it holds 3,000 tons of pumpkins annually! Bring your entire family as they have fun activities for everyone to enjoy such as, Minotaur's Labyrinth Hay maze, haunted barn tours, hay rides, pony rides, train rides, and a petting zoo!

FALL RECIPES

Pumpkin Oatmeal

Ready In: 12 minutes Serves: 1

Ingredients:

1/3 cup Rolled Oats

1/2 cup Water

1/8 cup Milk or Milk-substitute

1/8 cup Pumpkin canned

1/8 cup Raisins

1/3 teaspoon Cinnamon or Nutmeg or Pumpkin Pie Spice

2/3 teaspoon Honey or Maple Syrup optional

Stovetop Directions

1. Heat water over medium heat in a skillet until

bubbles form. This takes about 3–5 minutes.

2. Stir in oats. Cover and lower heat to low.

3. Stir in milk and other ingredients.

4. Cook for 3–4 more minutes.

Microwave Directions

1. Mix oats and water in a microwave-safe bowl.

2. Cook on high for 2–3 minutes. Stir once during cooking.

3. Add other ingredients including milk.

4. Heat for 1 more minute or until done. [Timing might be

different depending on the microwave.]

Mushroom Stroganoff

Ready in: 30 Minutes Serves: 2

INGREDIENTS

4-ounces mushrooms (mix of shitake, oyster, and cremini)

1 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons peanut oil

1/3 of a poblano pepper

1 tablespoon black pepper

1 tablespoon truffle oil

2 tablespoons cooking wine

1/4 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon chili flakes

1 teaspoon fenugreek powder

1 cup beef broth (or 1 bouillon cube + 1 cup water)

1/2 yellow onion

2 cups egg noodles

INSTRUCTIONS

Slice the onions lengthways and sauté in a pan with the

mushrooms, rosemary, dried thyme, cumin, fenugreek, chili

flakes, salt, pepper and the poblano pepper in peanut oil. Cook

for about 10 minutes to sweat out the mushrooms and

caramelize the onions.

Drizzle the truffle oil then deglaze the pan with the cooking wine.

Add the broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Scoop out about 2

tablespoons of the broth and mix it with the sour cream. Add it

back to the mushrooms and mix well.

Prepare the noodles as instructed on the bag, wait to drain until

you combine with the mushrooms.

Mix the noodles in with the creamy mushroom mixture. Season

with additional black pepper and chili flakes.
