Teacher Appreciation Week
May 3rd
Teacher Appreciation Day is when educators get the extra credit they deserve. Teaching is known to be atime-consuming and challenging profession, so this is our chance to show them our appreciation and say thank you to those who play such a vital role in our lives
Family Day
May 15th
Family Day is celebrated nationally to honor the importance of families and loved ones. - both traditional and non-traditional. Spend the day with your family, give your loved ones a call, and promote community on this holiday!
Bike to School Day
May 20th
National Bike to School Day is a great chance to celebrate a healhtier lifestyle and get some exercise before class! Globally, there are currently twice as many bikes as automobiles. Take the opportunity to get some fresh air and help out environment
Spring Self-Care!
Lemon Cucumber Water

Fill a glass with some cold water (and some ice if you have any!) Cut a few lemon and cucumber slices. Add the fruit to your cup of water, and you have made yourself a refreshing drink. This refreshment can help with inflammation and overall hydration!
Mediation

Difficulty: ★ ★
Mediation is a mindfulness technique which helps your brain destress and have more clarity. There are many guides on YouTube. some can last five minutes, and others can last five minutes, and other can last an hour. If you do not have access to a tutorial, you can sit in a quiet place and close your eyes. Try to refrain from daydreaming and keep your mind blank while breathing deeply.
Declutter your Desk

An students, we are always so busy with homework and school. Sometimes we forget that the key to a clear mind is a clean workspace! Take five minutes to clean up empty water bottles or cups and putting away some stationery, if your desk is already clean, feel free to rearrange your set up and get creative!
Going on a Walk

Going outside in the sunshine (or fog) can get you some fresh aire and light exercise. Whether it be in a park or just around the block, taking a walk outdoors can improve circulation and overall health. When exposed to the sun, we can also absorb some good ol' vitamin D (an important nutrient for the body!
Effective Study Methods & Tips
BEAT THE "FORGETTING CURVE"
The Forgetting Curve Is a theory on how long It takes for our brain to forget info. Interrupt this decline by using methods such as Active Recall & Spaced Repetition. This means, recall what you've learned using only memory. Notice what you've forgotten! Next, space these out over time to retain what you've studied!
POMODORO TECHNIQUE
Split work time into 25-min Intervals called pomodoros. Between each Interval, give yourself a short break before starting the next one! This technique splits up work, enhances flow, improves focus, and encourages time management. Try out this method here: https://pomofocus.io/
