We thought about the form of action we wanted to take
We had to think about the plan to raise money for NAWA
We thought about the proposal for MYIS community to help NAWA and the Soi Dog Foundation.
What did we do?
When we went to work with the Soi Dogs behind Emerson's house. We gave the Soi dogs a walk - Ms. Liz was walking two dogs and Emerson and Aschwin were walking one while Wilbur took photos. We went to the Secret Garden at Nichada and to the small dog place so the dogs can play and poop everywhere. Then, we started going further down the Soi and the dogs were eating grass. When we got back, the dogs jumped into the tub of water and sat there, and it was a hot day so we were jealous that the dogs got to jump into a tub of fresh cold water.
On Saturday May 1 we made a lot of food (blueberry muffins, granola bars, cinnamon chocolate muffins and a snack mix) and we sold it in the neighborhoods near Emerson's house. We went to people’s houses and told them what we were doing for our project. Most of the people bought some even though it was a little expensive, because they wanted to help NAWA. We got 5,520 baht, and we raised a lot of awareness, so now they might help NAWA.
What did we learn?
We learned how we could help Ms. Liz and the dogs. We learned how to use site we learned how to use google docs a little better. We learned a lot about the diseases that dogs can have we learned about the dog meat trade and who is helping the dogs.
Why should MYIS support the Soi Dogs?
Nonthaburi Animal Welfare Alliance (NAWA) is a small group of volunteers led by Ms. Liz. They are taking care of 7 dogs right now and they have sterilized about 150 cats and dogs. But they need help because many of the volunteers are leaving this summer, so if the MYIS community could support them it would help so much.
