Ms. Sally and Mr. Michael came to show us examples of the problem of poverty and people that they help, and to tell us how are they helping people. They told us they help people by donating stuff like food, toys, and stuff for cleaning. They feel very happy that they get to help other people and make their community better.
Aschwin's dad
Aschwin’s dad came to our class and told us what service learning looks like. His example is in India because he saw that so many people in India had bad health and bad places to live. I learned service learning makes people feel happy but some things that we do for others don’t have to cost much money or it don't have to be big things.

Questions and Answers from iCare
What projects are you working on right now? Due to the resurgence of the Covid 19 pandemic, we are evaluating our various projects and to see how much we have to change or postpone. But as you know, we work with orphans, underprivileged communities, hospitals, poor schools, and underprivileged youth. We also get requests from various institutions that we might not normally work with, but if we are able, we try to lend assistance. I personally focus, amongst other things, on working with a home for girls who are victims of human trafficking.
Do you guys have any particular project in mind that you would like to help?
In what ways can we help you? (We are a small group of three grade 5 students) Perhaps we can discuss this further, depending on how things develop with Covid. For example, some projects prefer to postpone activities until after we are out of the danger zone. Some institutions have their residents stay at the Home permanently, so for their protection they limit the number of visitors.
But generally speaking, underprivileged institutions need all the basics, food, hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies, and now masks and the like. If the home is for children, they always appreciate school supplies and clothes. Sometimes, we have sports activities, art classes, cooking classes, English practice, etc.
If we could give stuff to you to donate to slums, what would you want us to give you? They would need the usual stuff as above. But if you wish to do this, you could also donate the items on your own and we can give you referrals or even accompany you to the community. But as I mentioned, Covid has changed a lot of things so we will have to see how things develop.
Do you have any posters or publicity materials we could use in our school presentations?
We have a brochure of our yearly report and of course, our website and FB page.
We would appreciate any help you can give us and we in turn can help spread awareness of the good work you are doing.
Thanks so much, guys. I admire your enthusiasm and do let me know if you need any more
