We visited and invited guest speakers to teach us about what Service Learning Projects mean and what does it do for our community. We had to interact with our guest speakers. We learned about the community around us.
Ms. Liz talked about her organization Nonthaburi Animal Welfare Alliance (NAWA) and we learned that Ms. Liz helps animals that are need in help. We learned different ideas and ways of how could we help and how does it affect our community
Ms. Liz talked about the origins of her free non-profit library and why does it helps the community, and she told us why she did it. She told us her ideas of Service Learning Projects and why we should do it too.
Understanding the Issue
What is the issue? Why is it an problem?
The problem is that the owners of these dogs are not taking care of them and when they get too expensive or they start to get boring, the owner will throw them out on the street. Then that dog will go and have puppies and the population will get even bigger, and that isn’t good for us or them.
In our sorting out phase we made a Google Forms about the Soi Dogs. We also walked around the school giving the people a survey about what they felt about the Soi Dogs. We talked within our groups about what information we need to look up, and the format of our presentation. We communicated with the school through surveys and interviews.
Surveying Grade 3
Asking Ms. Mel about Soi Dogs
This is connected to our inquiry because we all worked together when making it. It's about mushroom people helping the dogs who needs help.
Strengths
Communication Skills: Last week I communicated with my partner PunPun to write on the newsletter and gave him information to help him write about it.
Research Skills: When I was with my Exhibition group I researched to find info connected to my group unit, and shared it.
Social Skills- Collaboration: I worked with Wilbur drawing a picture about our Exhibition group unit.
Weaknesses
Thinking Skills: I’m not really good at thinking and solving problems, because I’m left out on most conservations on how to solve problems. Like in my group. I could improve by getting more ideas and getting used to difficult problems and issues.
Self- Management: Personal management is not my Weaknesses but my personal goals are. I’m not working to my goal effectively and I’m working into the goals slowly, but I’m making progress.
In the last two weeks I have Communicated through the MYIS news letter, I have been a Researcher by finding info about our Service Learning Project (soi dogs) and I’ve shown my Connection & Collaboration (Social Skills) by contributing to my group. The past two weeks I have not been using my Personal Management & Reflection (Self-Management skills), sometimes when I’ve been working I get distracted and I stop working. I’m not doing so well with Critical Thinking & Problem Solving (Thinking Skills). I have not been listening to my group’s ideas and I’ve just used mine.
My biggest strength for ATLs was the Communication Skills because I like to communicate to my group and ask them what I need to do or what they need to do. Another strength that I have is the Social Skills - connection and collaboration. It’s because I discuss what we need to do and I also help my group and I cooperate with my group similar to the first strength I have.
The last strength I have is Thinking Skills - critical thinking and problem solving because I have a creative mind and I listen and ask questions. I get most of my questions from my friends because they might get me a question and I get my drawings from just watching other videos or seeing my friends art and by just making a squiggly line and turn it into something
My two biggest weaknesses are Self- Management Skills - personal management and reflection, and Research Skills. I don’t know why but I’m just not so good at researching, I can research but it takes forever to research. I’m not good at personal management and reflection because I am not good at setting goals and I don’t like to set goals. I’m not good at working or reflecting on goals.
