The story of Into the Woods follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and the lad Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
This popular Tony Award winning show, by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, is a musically sophisticated show that takes everyone's favorite storybook characters and brings them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic.
More in depth Rehearsal schedules will be posted once the show has been casted.
All scheduled rehearsals January-April will be scheduled in the Into the Woods Calendar in Parent Square - Please constantly be checking in there for specific dates and times, who is being called to each rehearsal, what you will be working on that day, and other important information. Most Vocal Rehearsals will be during after school hours, while most blocking rehearsals will be in the evenings. Students wishing to get a Principal Role should expect days where they are required to be at both.

Creative Work Days : TBD
- All creative work days will be on a Saturday or Sunday & will run approx. 12pm - 6pm unless otherwise noted.
All students involved in the Musical will be required to attend & help with at least 1 of these Work Days. This may involve building sets, painting, or helping with costumes/organizing props/prop room.
We are a team and the more we work together the more successful we will be. In order to put together one of the largest and most ambitious sets & shows we've ever had, the more participation and effort we get from everyone the better it will be!
Parents are encouraged to attend and help with these creative work days. We want you to be a part of the team that makes this show special. We especially welcome those familiar with/who own power tools, are comfortable with painting, are good at sewing/altering clothes, etc., but these skills are not a requirement. Remember - it takes a village.
Tech Week: April 6th-10th & April 13th - 4:30pm - 8pm - Notes will be from 7:45-8:00
MASK Car Show: Sunday, April 12th - ALL CAST & CREW will be required to be in attendance. We will be performing the opening number as a preview to hopefully gain public interest and sell tickets.
Dress Rehearsals: April 14-16 from 2:45pm - 9pm - All students are to stay after school to get in costume/mics, 3:30 is curtain & the first run through will begin promptly at that time - we will run the full show without stopping, then dinner each night will be from 6:15pm-7pm - We will then work on polishing areas that need it based on the earlier run thru. Notes will be from 8:30-9:00
Performances:
Fri. April 17: 5:00 call, 7:30 curtain
Sat. April 18: 5:00 call, 7:30 curtain
Sun. April 19: 1:00 call, 3:30 curtain **plus at least 30min after the show
to clean up personal belongings, put band/choir rooms in order, and collect costume pieces for washing at home.
STRIKE: Saturday, April 25 from 12pm-4pm - MANDATORY for all students involved with the show. We will be doing a teardown of the set and a THOROUGH cleaning of the theatre, backstage area, and prop room. This includes reorganizing ALL prop bins and checking that everything listed is accounted for, re-hanging washed costumes that are to be returned by this date and putting back any other costume pieces/wigs/jewelry that were pulled out for this show and make sure they are appropriately stored so they do not get ruined, organizing the backstage space with the lumber and other set materials so that the area is organized and easily accessible, sweeping the stage and all backstage areas, making sure anything else is done before we wrap up our season for the school year.
Students are expected to stay for the 30min quick-clean after the last show AND strike in their entirety until dismissed by a director. These are not a one-or-the-other optional request.
STRIKE is a part of being casted/participating in a show - it is not optional. We have heard the parent/student complaints about STRIKE being the same day as the last show and we are trying to respect that - we ask the same respect for us that you come back the following weekend to finish your responsibilities.
Students who do not participate in STRIKE (without giving proper notice/reason to the directing team and learning what they can do to make up that time) will not receive Thespian points for their performance, and will not be considered for a principal role in the next show they audition for. Seniors - not participating in STRIKE responsibilities will result in not receiving your Thespian cord for graduation.
We would like to ask for parent volunteers to assist with STRIKE - this does not mean you are responsible for the cleaning, that is the students job to put away things that they used/got out - we are, however hoping for several extra hands to supervise specific areas during the duration and to help give guidance if needed, since directors cannot be in all areas at once. A sign-up for this will go out at the same time as volunteer sign-ups for the performance week needs.
100% Mandatory attendance is required for all Cast & Crew the weeks of Tech Week & Dress Rehearsal & Performances.
Monday, April 6th - Sunday, April 19th
All cast will be required to attend the MASK Car Show on Sunday, April 12 for a Performance Preview
Cast should also anticipate an Elementary School Preview performance on the morning of Opening Night.
