In order to provide amazing experiences for our students and audience members, fundraising is crucial! There are a few ways we can raise money listed below. We ask students to make it their goal to raise a minimum of $50 per show to help cover the costs of costumes, props, and set pieces.
Become a Patron
We often hear complaints from parents because they're tired of trying to sell things to their friends/family and they would rather just write a check. That's exactly why we have the option to become a patron! Each patron will be listed in the programs of every show this season. All you have to do is write a check to Madison Association for Stage Kids (MASK), put it in an envelope with the name(s) you would like to appear in the program (or you can choose to remain anonymous), and turn it in to Mrs. Parsons, Mrs. Miller, or Mrs. Carroll.

Buy/Sell a Business Ad
Businesses can purchase advertisement space in the programs. They may purchase ad space in the programs for one or both shows this season!

Get a Business to Sponsor a Show
Businesses can also Sponsor an entire show or the full Theatre Season (as long as the sponsorship is sold in the fall).

Break-a-Leg Messages
Anyone can purchase break-a-leg messages to send to students who are in the cast/crew of the current running show at Madison. Your special messages will appear in the programs each night of the performance!
Example: "John, we are so proud of all the hard work you have put into this show and we can't wait to watch you perform. We love you! -Grandma & Grandpa"
Each break-a-leg message costs $5.00
An order form will be sent home with each student in the cast/crew approximately (1) month prior to opening night. A digital copy will also be available on BAND APP. Or you can e-mail the current show director.
Join us/Volunteer for a MASK Event
Each school year MASK hosts several events outside of the Play Season that we use to raise money for the program. Things like Music Trivia Night and the Annual Car Show are some of the most successful ways we ensure that our Drama Department continues to have everything it needs year after year to operate smoothly. Volunteering to help us at one of these events, or bringing your family out to participate is one of the many ways you can continue to support this amazing program!
We are always in need of volunteers to help build/paint sets pieces, gather props, and make/alter costumes. If you have the skills, or even just the willingness to help, please contact Mrs. Parsons (Spring Musical) at Andrea.Parsons@MadisonMohawks.org or Mrs. Carroll (Fall Play) at Lauren.Carroll@MadisonMohawks.org .
Set construction days for our upcoming fall play are TBD but will be sometime Sept/Oct, most likely Saturdays and will run from 12 - 6pm
Check back soon for a full list of specific items we need for the Fall Play!
Currently we are looking for:
Donations for lumber, plywood, & paint
4 diso-era dresses
Trench coats in various sizes
Lab Coats and Goggles
1 Vintage Red, Corded, Rotary Telephone
Princess style Dresses (for the spring musical)
The Madison Association for Stage Kids (MASK) is the parent and community booster group for the drama programs at Madison High School and Madison Middle School. The members of MASK actively support Madison's thespians by assisting at performances and raising funds throughout the school year. Funds are used for special sound and lighting equipment; performance assets such as costumes, props and sets; cast parties; and other projects that support our students.
Meetings are generally the first Tuesday of each month during the school year at 6:30pm in the High School Choir Room. Check the Drama Calendar on the BAND APP for more information or the link to join virtually when you can't make it in person.
If you are interested in joining MASK, please email Jenn Maichle at nneJ1722@gmail.com or Lauren Carroll at LCarroll.MASK@gmail.com for more information. We would love to have you!

PARENT FAQ’s – FALL PLAY
Why should my student participate in a play? At Madison, we believe the arts are extremely important to the development of a well-rounded education. Theater is not just about learning how to sing, dance, and act. It teaches priceless, life-long skills and characteristics such as verbal and non-verbal communication, teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, independence, time management, empathy, accepting feedback, leadership, work ethic, accountability, moving forward from failure, and being proud of success. It also provides students with a creative outlet to express their feelings in a safe and encouraging environment. In the process, students will have the opportunity to take risks, have fun, make friends, and create lifelong memories.
What am I expected to provide? Each student must provide a binder (for their script), a pencil, highlighter, and are encouraged to bring their own water bottle to each rehearsal. We will also expect all students to provide their own hair and makeup supplies, undergarments, and shoes, as well as some basic costume pieces. More specific information is provided in the handbook.
How much does it cost? Like all extracurricular activities in Madison Local School District, the pay-to-play fee applies to students in the cast of our shows. This fee is currently $400/student for each activity they are involved in. Here is the good news: if you have a student who typically participates in every show throughout the school year, they only have to pay this fee once for the entire 2025-2026 Season!
However, we know this is still a large price tag and we want you to know that we are here to help. M.A.S.K. is generously offering full and partial assistance to families who truly need it. Please reach out to Mrs. Carroll at Lauren.Carroll@MadisonMohawks.org if this creates too much of a financial burden for your family and we will provide more information about financial assistance.
What is the time commitment? A rehearsal calendar can be found at the bottom of this page once the show has been cast and the final schedule set. It will be updated frequently & the most current variation will always be available on the BAND APP. Here is an outline of what to expect:
We will likely start our season by holding 2-3 rehearsals per week from 5:30-8:00 PM. During the first couple of weeks, not every student may need to attend every rehearsal while we work on individual scenes that may only include certain roles. After about a month, we will increase rehearsals to 3-4 times per week, and it will become more common to see the majority, if not all, of the cast needed. We will also start incorporating crew into rehearsals around this time so they can become familiar with lines and cues. During this time frame we will also have several set building days on select Saturdays. Students committed to the play will be required to attend at least 1 set building day, but are encouraged to attend as many as possible so that our set can be completed faster and we have more time to work with it in rehearsal.
In the 2-3 weeks leading up to opening night, we will hold rehearsals 5 days a week, all with the full cast and crew. These rehearsals will be longer as well. In the final 3-4 days leading up to opening night, we will hold dress rehearsals that will run from 3pm-8:30 PM, with an hour-long dinner break provided by MASK at 5:30pm.
What is the attendance policy? It is extremely important that students attend every rehearsal to which they are called. Every time a student is absent, we are forced to re-teach material that has already been taught, which causes us to extend rehearsals and/or schedule additional rehearsals. If your student misses too many rehearsals, the directors may have to remove them from scenes and/or switch their part with someone in the ensemble. If a student is absent for 3+ consecutive rehearsals with no communication, we will assume they have quit the production, and they will lose their role in the show.
§ Scheduling Conflicts: If your student is involved in other activities, we are typically very willing and able to accommodate that by fairly and equally splitting practice times. This requires very strong communication between us, you, and the student's other coaches/instructors. Keep in mind that teamwork is equally as important in theater as it is in sports, so the absence of a single student makes a large impact on the other students.
How do I help my student prepare for auditions/performances? Parents can help their child prepare by offering to read lines with them and watch them practice their audition scenes at home. We encourage you to be supportive and provide positive feedback and allow us to be the ones who provide constructive criticism. Telling a student they're bad at something can cause them to be self-conscious and sometimes even lead to them choosing to give up. While being realistic is important, performing is a skill and there is a learning process. We will always do our best to set every student up for success and work with them to improve their skills. Nobody is going to be perfect right away, but our goal is to challenge and guide them through this program in hopes that they will improve every year!
Do I have to join the Band App? Yes, we very strongly encourage you to download and join the Madison Drama Band App! This is how you will be able to see the rehearsal schedule and quickly get in touch with us (and us with you) during rehearsals in the case of an emergency since we are typically not near our school phones or able to check our email. This is also where we will post volunteer sign-up sheets, information about fundraisers, and more. As we all know, students tend to be forgetful so it is much easier if you and your student can both see the information on the app for yourselves. Within the app we have specific group chats for different things, like each individual show during the season, and a parents/booster only chat. This allows you to only be getting the information that is relevant to you and your student.
How can I help the drama program? We always need adult help when it comes to building/painting sets, gathering props, creating/altering costumes, donating food for dinners, raising money, and selling tickets. Please email us if there is an area you believe you could be of help, or join us at the next MASK meeting! (See the MASK tab above!)
