Participating in a play requires the same commitment and dedication that being on a school’s sports teams requires. Just as students need to attend sports practices to learn to work together as a successful team, they need to attend rehearsals together to create a successful production! Rehearsal time is precious and the drama staff works hard to plan rehearsals that will maximize the students’ use of time.
Parent communication and involvement is essential! Without the support of parents, the performances we put on could not happen! The directors are committed to constructing a rehearsal schedule that makes the best use of the students’ time while being sensitive to the children’s personal lives and academic responsibilities.
We also rely on your help in planning and scheduling with our rehearsal schedule in mind. When possible, please help us by scheduling appointments/lessons which do not interfere with pre-planned rehearsals. Should conflicts arise, please notify Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Crim as soon as possible. It is very difficult to re-stage or re-teach blocking when cast members are missing. Students who consistently miss rehearsals may need to face being recast into a smaller role in the production or removed entirely.
Parents, because of the many needs, we need adult help in numerous areas. If you are willing and able to assist us with set construction, costumes, makeup, or donations, please send us an email and let us know!
The dedication of the students, staff, and parents working together makes the Madison Drama program a special place to be - a place where all students are welcome; and where all students are encouraged to explore and create through the performing arts. Regardless of grade level or experience, kids build lasting friendships and create life-long memories. We hope that students and parents know and understand what is needed to make a commitment to participating in the play they are auditioning for.
