Positive Recess Engagement Program (PREP):

At Madera Unified, we’re committed to enhancing the recess experience by fostering positive behavior through play, which extends the support from the classroom to the playground while developing students' social-emotional skills. Our Recess Engagement Trainer partners with Cafeteria Playground Aides (CPAs) and Student Advocates to deliver on-site, structured SEL-embedded game training. We also collaborate to design customized zones of expectations for each school, aligned with their PBIS system. CPAs benefit from ongoing professional development in de-escalation strategies and positive behavior reinforcement, helping to ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive environment during recess.
