Patriots Day - Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month: 9/15 - 10/15 Lesson
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spanish-speaking countries, including Spain, Mexico, and many more in the Caribbean and Central and South America. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Additionally, Día de la Raza, which falls on October 12, also falls within this 30-day period.

Patriot Day: September 11 Lesson
The September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance (9/11 Day) is a chance to help others in tribute to those killed and injured on September 11, 2001, first responders, and the countless others who serve to defend the nation’s freedom at home and around the globe. Despite our shared grief in the aftermath of 9/11, hope, resilience, and unity lifted us as a nation. Twenty years later, these lessons are more important than ever.
