Mac.Robertson Girls' High School
Today is your last lesson focussing on your Regulate and Ready Routine. You'll learn about the final two steps in the process, which involve trying an emotion regulation strategy when you don't feel ready to learn, and reviewing whether the strategy has worked. Congratulations on building your very own Regulate and Ready Routine!
Today's lesson is focussed on Principle 5 of our Learner Model, Growth Through Feedback. You'll learn about how you can optimise your learning through feedback processes, by engaging with a variety of feedback sources, and by managing your thoughts and feelings in order to maintain a growth mindset. You are encouraged to use these strategies as you approach your first Mac.Rob exams this term. Good luck with demonstrating all of the great learning you've done this year!
Today, you'll learn about one more emotion regulation strategy - cognitive reframing. This strategy is different to the ones you've already learnt; instead of targeting physiological manifestations of emotions, cognitive reframing targets the thought processes that are causing your emotions. You'll also learn more about Step 3 of your Regulate and Ready Routine, which involves identifying the emotion regulation strategies that you will use to manage different emotions.
Today, you'll learn about not one but two emotion regulation strategies - Progressive Muscle Relaxation and grounding techniques. These are very effective strategies for managing physiological responses to uncomfortable feelings. You'll also learn more about Step 2 of your Regulate and Ready Routine, which involves identifying how you want to feel in order to be ready to learn.
Today, you'll learn about a very effective emotion regulation strategy called Controlled Breathing. You'll also learn about the first step of your Regulate and Ready Routine, which involves recognising and articulating your emotional experience at any given time.
Today, you'll begin a series of lessons focussing on our new Regulate and Ready Routine. You'll learn more about what emotion regulation is, and why developing this skill is crucial for effective learning. The Regulate and Ready Routine will allow you to build your own, individualised plan for helping you to regulate your emotions at school, thus making you more ready to learn!
