As we are inquiring about Cultures and celebrations this Planning Period, we decided to look at the country Romania for Room 8. There is one lovely child in here who was delighted to know we were doing art inspired from their home Country!
I had to learn a thing or two.
The Image depicts a Eurasian Lynx cat, resting on the Romanian Flag, with a Red Peony in the background, one of the countries National Flowers.
We started by doing a detailed step-by-step drawing and then used pastels to colour in and add dimension. We learnt to blend and overlap.
We liked how the colour of the black paper peeked through and gave it an imperfect finish.
I am so proud of these artists today, each one is totally unique and full of character!

We wanted fun and fast today. And let me tell you, this was not as fast as I anticipated, but it sure was FUN
I took inspiration from Joel Scholten, an amazing artist who has the coolest videos on Instagram.
Room 7 is such a fun class, so I wanted to expose them to different media and ways to create pictures.
They LOVED it, it was messy and they look fabulous !!!!!!!!!!
Process for it:
rip old book pages for a collaged, textured base
watercolour a fun 'tablecloth' inspired pattern over top
use chopped up pool noodles to stamp 4-7 (ish) donut shadows (in grey) then use a dry brish to pull down the paint to look 'smudged'
repeat on top with donut dough colours
pastel the icing
add glitter
create 3D structures such as sprinkles, lollies and cherries for the added cherry-on-top!
Take a look!
