I am so excited to begin a new year at AEW with all of you! This will be my 23rd year at AEW and my 28th year of teaching. Before coming to AEW, I taught fine art and ceramics at two local high schools. Here at AEW, I teach Beginning Art, Advanced Art, Discovery Rotation, Three Dimensional Art, and Yearbook. I can't wait to explore the pulse and people of our school and create an amazing yearbook this year!
About me: I have three children, ages 31, 28, and 25. Two of my children attended AEW! I have three dogs named Roy, Marlowe, and Maddie, and a tortoise named Leonardo. I love to visit art museums, knit, oil paint, and garden in my spare time. Some of my favorite art museums in LA County include the Getty Villa in Malibu, the Getty Museum, the Broad Museum, LACMA, Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, and MOCA. I am very excited about some new art projects this year! We are going to have a great time!

Once school resumes, I will be posting photos of student art on Artsonia.com. Artsonia.com is the largest online student art gallery, with close to 12 million pieces of art from over 57,000 teachers worldwide. More than 130 different countries are represented. Forms will be sent home shortly with information on logging in to give permission to display student work on the site. Artsonia is a wonderful way to share your child's work with relatives and friends who live far away. You may also order merchandise with your child's art featured on it. Thank you!
Art Club is open to any student who would like to do arts and crafts for fun. Art Club meets on Thursdays during lunch in Room 29. Some of the projects include soap making, jewelry, tie dye, drawing, clay, candle-making, origami, knitting, and scratch art. While most of the projects are free, some require a small fee. Students in the Art Club may choose the projects they wish to do as a group. Art Club is meant to be an enrichment time where students can sit, eat their lunch, and make friends with similar interests! Listen for meeting information in the homeroom announcements.
