Hello Class, I hope you enjoyed your four day weekend! Please make sure that your Op Art has been turned in. We are going to learn about the element of Shape this week and begin our tessellation. We will study the work of artist MC Escher. Your tessellation will be due toward the end of next week. There is no homework this week, so enjoy.

Hello Class, I hope that you enjoyed creating your portfolios last week! We are going to be making an Op Art project this week in the style of artist Bridget Riley. Your drawing is due on Friday for 50 points. This week's homework is to create a descriptive line drawing with at least five words. See Google Classroom for the handout and examples. Your homework is due on Friday.

Hello Class, We are going to finish the portfolios this week. They are due on Wednesday. We will then start an Op Art drawing and learn about the element of line. If you finish the portfolio early, start the Imagination Homework, which is due on Friday.

Hello Class, We are going to begin our graffiti name portfolios this week! First, make sure that you have brought your class materials. Next, turn in your parent signatures from the syllabus. Finally, we will watch a video about how to draw your names using graffiti fonts and a layout. You will draw your name using three different fonts, then choose your favorite to draw with color for your portfolio. Your practice drawing is due this Wednesday. We will spend the rest of the week making portfolios. There is no homework this week, so enjoy!

Hello Class, Thank you for a great first week of school! We are going to go over more procedures for the art room this week, clean up people, and we will assign lockers and portfolio spaces. Then, we will begin our first project, which is a graffiti portfolio. We will learn how to draw graffiti style lettering, and we will learn about the British street artist Banksy. We will then design our portfolios using graffiti lettering and a unique background. Your practice drawing is due this Friday. There is no homework this week. Homework will begin next week.

Welcome to Discovery Art Rotation! I am very excited to get to know you and to start this school year! Please make sure you have read through the Parent Letter and materials list with your parent and that you have filled out the Getting to Know You handout.

We will be doing some icebreakers and getting to know you activities during the first week of school. We will also review the Parent Letter, materials needed, and class expectations. The suggested materials for art can be found on the first page of this website. You are expected to bring your art materials to school each day. Please have your materials by Monday, August 24th.
