Hello Class, We are going to be drawing in two point perspective this week. First, we will review one point perspective boxes. Then, we will draw different sets of boxes in two point perspective. Finally, we will draw a rough sketch for a fantasy city in two point perspective. The homework this week is to draw a bridge in one point perspective. Use the handout to help you. The homework is due on Friday, February 20th for ten points.

Hello Class, I hope you are enjoying making your 3D version of the fantasy animal. Please try to finish it this week, so that you can start on the perspective drawing review. We will review one point perspective and then learn about two point perspective. The one point review is due on Friday. There is no homework, so enjoy!

Hello Class, I am so excited to start second semester with you! We are going to finish the fantasy animals this week and then create them out of paper mache. You will make a metal armature for the inside of your sculpture and cover it with paper mache. Please turn in a new photo of your fantasy animal drawing or painting to Google Classroom, as there is some overlap from first semester. The homework this week is to draw a pet portrait. Please see Google Classroom for examples. It is due on Friday.

January 20th, 2026

Hello Class, We are going to work on the Fantasy Animal drawings this week. They are due on Friday. When you finish, you will create your animal in 3D using paper mache! Please make sure that all missing work is turned in by this Friday, as it is the last day of the semester. No late work will be accepted after Friday, January 20th. This week's homework is to draw a lion using the handout as an example. Make sure to include a lot of texture in your lion drawing. It is due on Friday for ten points.

Hello Class, Hopefully, you have finished your personal still life projects and are ready to begin the fantasy animal drawings this week. For this project, you will create an animal that has texture and has the characteristics of at least three other animals. You can make this a total fantasy animal! You will also create a habitat for this animal to live in. Your practice drawing is due by this Thursday. There is no homework this week.

Hello Class, We will begin our Personal Still Life drawing this week. Choose 3-4 items that have personal meaning and arrange them in a still life format. See the Google Slides to learn more about the arrangement. Choose a medium to work with to create your still life. Bring a photo from home to use for reference and create a rough sketch, which is due on Wednesday. The finished still life is due after vacation. This week's homework is to draw a watering can using your best shading. See Google Classroom for instructions. The watering can drawing is due on Friday for ten points.

Hello Class, we are going to be finishing our Three Faces of Me projects this week and beginning our Famous Person Portraits. You will choose a person whom you would like to draw or paint who also gives back to society. You should begin your rough draft this week. We are going to study the artist Chuck Close and his use of the grid method, to complete our work. This week's homework is to write a short essay about your famous person. Please see Google Classroom for information on what to cover.

Hello Class, we will be working on our Three Faces of me project this week. It is due a week from Wednesday, November 19th. The homework is to draw an two eyes, a nose, and a mouth by using the videos as a guide. The homework is due this Friday for ten points.

Hello Class, we are going to finish our Skeleton figures this week. They are due on Tuesday. When you have finished, you can begin the Three Faces of Me rough sketch and drawing. We will be creating a triptych. The homework for this week is to read the poem by Pablo Neruda and create a colored illustration of what it means to you. The homework is due on Friday.

Hello Class, We are going to work on the skeleton figure drawings this week. They will be due on Tuesday, November 4th. If you finish early, you can begin the Three Faces of Me project. This week's homework is to draw your own face with a sugar skull on half of it for Dia de los Muertos. It is due on Friday for ten points.

Hello Class, We will finish up the wrapped animal drawings early this week. Then, we will begin our Skeleton Figure drawings. Before you begin, watch the videos on how to draw a person in proportion. Next, look at the examples and decide what you would like to draw for your rough sketch. You must draw a skeleton that has clothing and is located in an interesting environment. There is no homework this week, so enjoy!

Hello Class, We are going to finish our Yin Yang Zentangles this week. They are due on Friday. If you finish early, start the Wrapped Animal project. First, read about artist Jeremy Baker, who has created wrapped animals. After reading, answer the questions on the handout and turn in. The Scream is a famous painting by artist Edvard Munch, and it is about how man and industry are exploiting the earth. We will then develop our own drawings in the same format. Think about something that you care deeply about. Your Found Object drawing is due this Tuesday, and The Scream will be due September 19th. Your homework is to watch the video about The Scream and answer the questions in Google Classroom. It is due on Friday for ten points.

Welcome to Advanced Art! I am very excited to get to know you and to start this school year! Please make sure you have read through the Parent Letter and materials list with your parent and that you have filled out the Getting to Know You handout.

We will be doing some icebreakers and getting to know you activities during the first week of school. We will also review the Parent Letter, materials needed, and class expectations. The suggested materials for art can be found on the first page of this website. Some supplies are for you to gather from home, while others will be given to you in an art kit. You are expected to bring your art kit and materials to school each day or keep them in your class locker.
