Color-Changing Soft Tamper
The BxSOFTt COOL™ is a hand-held device used to cool paraffin blocks during microtomy. It's made from a soft rubber/metal composite with improved thermal transfer.
ADVANTAGES
The user can (re)cool the paraffin block in order to obtain serial sections without removing the block from the microtome
The surface of the paraffin block cools quickly (10 - 15 seconds)
LUMEA BxSOFTt COOL™ changes color as it cools, so you know when it's ready—it turns blue below 10°C (the recommended temperature for maximum efficiency)
How to use BxSOFTt COOL™
Rapidly (re)cool the paraffin block without removing it from the microtome holder
STEP 1
STEP 1
Keep the BxSOFTt COOL™ tamper on a cold surface (such as the BxCOOL!™ cryoplate) until it reaches the operating temperature—when it turns blue.
STEP 2
STEP 2
Gently press the cold tamper on the cut surface of the paraffin block for 10-15 seconds.
STEP 3
STEP 3
Resume sectioning.
