The BxChip® is a sectionable planar matrix* made from a biomimetic, organic polymer that allows the creation of tissue microarrays for routine clinical diagnostics at the point of care. The BxChip® virtually eliminates core fragmentation by protecting delicate tissue cores. And, it reduces the need for tissue manipulation. Parallel processing and sectioning of tissue cores significantly increase the yield of tissue on microslides, and, consequently, cancer detection rates.
Fresh biopsy samples can be loaded into the site-specific channels of the BxChip® in the Operating Room (sterile matrices, packaged in isotonic saline). Alternatively, pre-fixed biopsies that arrive in the Pathology Laboratory can be loaded in non-sterile matrices (packaged in formalin).
*The matrix material does not interefere with IHC, ISH, FISH, NGS or other molecular testing methods.
BxChip® offers precise traceability of the biospies...
Urologists usually harvest 12 or more biopsies and place them in 2 or more 6-lane BxChip®, color-coded for left and right lobes (e.g. green and blue).
If additional biopsies are taken, they can be placed in sectionable matrices of a different color (teal).

For a standard prostate biopsy, a minimum of 12 cores typically requires the preparation of 12 separate paraffin blocks.
The 12-channel BxChip® consolidates all biopsies into a single matrix, producing just one paraffin block and significantly reducing the number of slides required.
This approach greatly decreases the use of histology consumables—including standard plastic cassettes, biopsy pads, dehydrating and clearing solvents, glass slides, staining reagents, and coverslips.
In addition, the streamlined design shortens the time a technician spends on microtome sectioning.
BxChip® for other gauges
The BxChip® can be used for the collection and parallel processing of other various core biopsies (such as kidney, spleen, liver, lung, brain, bone marrow, soft tissue, etc.) in the following gauges: 12, 14, 16.

BxChip® Packaging Options
For the Operating Room the BxChip® (sterile) is delivered double-sealed —in a plastic blister and aluminized pouch—with one or two companion sponges, depending on BxChip™ gauge. Each box contains 10 pcs BxChip® in saline (sterilized by gamma irradiation).
For the Pathology Laboratory the BxChip® (non-sterile) is delivered in a plastic container with 50 pcs in formalin.
All the products are accompanied by the Instructions For Use manual (IFU), Declaration of Conformity, and Technical Data Sheet (TDS).
