Dear families,

Welcome to the library! It is with extreme enthusiasm that I introduce myself. My name is Miss Erickson and I am honored to be your child’s library media specialist. I anticipate a fun-filled year of reading and learning for us all. Our safe, welcoming library community will be grounded in mutual respect and inclusivity. Together, we will make great strides in supporting your child as they explore the exciting worlds of reading, researching, critical thinking, ethical use of information, and digital citizenship.

This is my eighth year in education and my first as a school library media specialist! For the past number of years, I’ve taught upper elementary and middle school English/Language Arts. I am truly excited and fortunate to join you here in Lumberton!

I graduated with honors from Rowan University with two bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and Liberal Studies: Humanities/Social Science with concentrations in English and History. I also hold Special Education (P-12) and Middle School English/Language Arts (5-8) certifications. I recently earned my master’s degree in School Administration from Rowan University and I’m currently working on my School Library Media Specialist certification at Seton Hall University.

Teaching and working with children is a joy to me. My mission is to spark curiosity in the minds of students and to foster a lifelong love of learning that extends beyond any one discipline.

Please encourage your child to enjoy and take care of our library materials and return them for more. I hope that you can enjoy the library books with your child!

Let me know if you have any questions throughout the school year. I look forward to a successful year together!

Happy reading,

Miss Erickson, K-8 School Library Media Specialist
