PE WAIVERS
PE WAIVERS
Physical Education Waivers may be requested to waive P.E. during 6th, 7th & 8th grade if students are involved in a private or commercially sponsored physical activity program that leads to Olympic-level competition. These programs must involve a minimum of 15 hours per week of highly intense, professionally supervised training. 6th, 7th & 8th-grade students may submit a request for a P.E. waiver under the following conditions:
The student trains in a high-level individual athletic, dance, or equestrian program through an outside provider that is above & beyond local youth sports activities & competes at a regional, national, and/or international level.
The organization providing the off-campus physical activity has been approved by the Lake Travis ISD School Board prior to the beginning of the new school year.
Completed paperwork must be submitted by June 7, 2025. Waivers will not be approved after the June date. Paperwork requesting a P.E. waiver can be obtained on the district website under Families > Off-Campus Physical Education (OCPE). Letters of participation/credit form from the supervising agency are to be delivered to the counseling office.
Students must be enrolled in the program for the entire school year. The waiver will occur during the last period of the day.
Progress reports must be returned by the trainer/coach to the school counselor every 9 weeks so that credit can be awarded.
6th-grade students MUST complete the Exam by Acceleration for 6th-grade Health to have the PE Waiver approved as Health is taught in conjunction with 6th-grade physical education or dance-based PE course. Complete information regarding PE Waivers, including the actual application, as well as information about the Health Exam by Acceleration can be found on the district website.
