LSU Coastal Roots Program – Through this program, third grade students and teachers conduct an on-going nursery program to grow native prairie plants. The plants are used for coastal-prairie habitat restoration. The program engages students with information on environmental issues such as ecological stewardship, habitat restoration and conservation, while teaching basic horticultural concepts and skills.
4-H Embryology Program - Third grade students participate in this program which brings agriculture into the classroom. The program teaches the science of embryology by supplying incubators to teachers so students can watch chicks hatch and grow. This curriculum enhances the science, math and technology lessons being taught throughout the year.
Pollinator Gardens - Third grade students plant and maintain the pollinator gardens on campus. In connection with the gardens, third grade students complete a unit of study on pollinators in Science Lab.
Meteorologists - The students will collect and graph weather data weekly from the L. Leo Judice Weather Station and local weather apps. Students will report their findings once a week to the school through morning announcements.
