• Scholarship information is sent to students through student e-mail accounts. Be sure to check your LHS student email account daily.

• Pay close attention to due dates. Late applications are not accepted for any reason. This includes your being absent from school on the day an application is due. It is a good idea to get a calendar to help you keep up with due dates. Do not wait until the last day to turn in your application. You never know what may happen. 

• Pay attention to where and how you are to turn in your completed application. Some applications are to be turned in to the counseling office and others are to be mailed. We will not accept applications that are to be mailed. We cannot mail them for you. Applications that are to be mailed have a deadline for postmark.

Arthur Morin Cultural Connection Scholarship

The inaugural Arthur Morin Cultural Connection Scholarship honors the legacy of Arthur Morin, who was born in France, raised in the U.S., and spent part of his career in Puerto Rico and Spain. Fluent in French, Spanish, and English, Arthur was passionate about connecting people across cultures, founding the Valdosta Latino Association to bridge communities and actively engaging in local cultural groups.

This scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has completed at least three semesters of a foreign language by graduation and embodies Arthur’s spirit of cultural connection. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in other languages and cultures and a willingness to build meaningful relationships across diverse backgrounds, showcasing how they’ve embraced this mindset through their experiences, regardless of their personal background or career goals.

Brian Mainor Memorial Scholarship

The Brian Mainor Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 to honor the late Mr. Mainor, a Hahira Elementary School teacher of 29 years. He is remembered for his kind demeanor and love for his students and his community. Character and merit will be considered in the judging process. Applicants must also have attended Hahira Elementary School. Bright Start, Brighter Futures Scholarship

The Bright Start Brighter Futures Scholarship, established by Bright Start Preschool in honor of Mr. Bunnis Williams, a former guidance counselor at Lowndes High, aims to celebrate his enduring commitment to education. He believed it was essential for students to understand their next steps in life, and he was unwavering in his support for their journey. In tribute to his legacy, the scholarship will award $1,000 each to two students: one pursuing vocational training and one planning to attend college.

The Charles Todd Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 to honor the late Mr. Charles Todd II, former Lowndes High School Band Director and loyal Viking. Mr. Todd had a passion for music and is remembered for his leadership and kindness, all of which will be characteristics the recipient is judged on. The Ella’s Way Scholarship is an annual award given to a Lowndes High School senior presented by Ella's Top Corral in partnership with Citizens Community Bank, CJB, Inc., Farmers and Merchants Bank, Georgia Power, Owens Vinyl Siding, and Jimmy Miller - Elliot Backburn. The John and Joyce Feazell Scholarship is an annual award given to a Lowndes High School senior.  The recipient must be a child of a parent or grandparent who has been (or was) employed for at least five years by the Lowndes County School System. The Lowndes Education Improvement Foundation (LEIF) Board Scholarship

The Lowndes Education Improvement Foundation (LEIF) is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to promoting excellence in education. LEIF utilizes funds to provide improved educational opportunities for the students and teachers of the Lowndes County School System. This Milhous Family scholarship honors the late John T. Milhous, Jr. and is based on academic performance.  The preferred recipient(s) of this scholarship will be a member of the Lowndes High School Band planning to attend Georgia Southern University; however, all seniors are strongly encouraged to apply as all recipients will be considered. SGMC Health Scholarship

The South Georgia Medical Center Scholarship was established in 2023 by a generous gift from the SGMC foundation in order to provide scholarships to Lowndes High School seniors seeking to pursue a career in the field of health care. The SGMC Scholarship exists to alleviate some of the financial burden of higher education in order to help create a future for healthcare students in South Georgia. Recipients must be U.S. citizens, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, attend a post-secondary institution in the state of Georgia within the duration of the scholarship year, and have expressed interest in returning to South Georgia to serve in the field of health care upon college graduation.
