CLASS SIZE
7.1 Beginning on July 1, 2017, class sizes for core academic subjects (Math, Language Arts, Social Science and Science) shall not exceed the following:

7.2 Classes That Exceed Goals:
7.2.1 One or two students: In the event that a class size exceeds the District goals set forth above by one (1) or two (2) students for more than fifteen (15) work days in a semester, the affected teacher will receive;
a. Stipend of three hundred seventy-five dollars ($375.00) for each excess student for the semester.
b. The stipend shall be prorated based on the number of core classes exceeding the district goal that are taught by the affected teacher(s) and shall be paid in a lump sum at the end of each affected semester.
7.2.2 Three or four students: In the event that a class size exceeds the District goals set forth above by three (3) or four (4) students for more than fifteen (15) work days in a semester, the affected teacher will receive:
a. A stipend of nine hundred dollars ($900.00) each semester for every excess student above the district goal, and;
b. An additional half day each affected semester for planning/assessment.
c. The stipend shall be prorated based on the number of core classes exceeding the district goal that are taught by the affected teacher(s) and shall be paid in a lump sum at the end of each affected semester.
7.2.3 Five Students: In the event, with the consent of an affected teacher, that a class size (site grade level average) exceeds the District goals set forth above by five (5) students for more than fifteen (15) work days in a semester, the affected teacher(s) will also receive the following:
a. An instructional assistant assigned to the classroom for two hours/day.
b. However, if the district is unable to secure a qualified employee through its normal hiring process, then the affected teacher(s) shall be compensated as described in 7.2.2(a) with an additional one thousand three hundred fifty dollars ($1,350.00) for each student that exceeds 7.2.2.
c. The support shall be prorated based on the number of core classes exceeding the district goal that are taught by the affected teacher(s). Stipends shall be paid in a lump sum at the end of each affected semester.
7.3 In the event a Resource teacher signs a waiver for exceeding Ed Code (56362(C)) class limitations, that teacher will receive a stipend of seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) for each excess student for the semester. The stipend shall be paid in a lump sum at the end of each affected semester. An additional half day will be provided for each affected semester for planning/assessment.
7.3.1 The district shall make a reasonable effort to equalize speech and language pathologists’ caseloads. A speech and language
pathologist employed on a part-time basis shall have a pro-rate equivalent of the caseload of a full-time pathologist. The caseload will be
limited to the average as stated in Ed Code (56363.3). Should the average exceed Ed Code, a collaborative meeting with the Special
Education Director or designee will be held to consider and identify additional supports.
7.4 In the event that class size reduction funding (GSA) is eliminated or reduced from the 2016-17 allocation amounts, class sizes in 7.1 shall return to the following:
