3.1 Administration refers to those positions which are involved in the majority of the following duties: (1) budgeting, (2) evaluation of staff members, (3) recommendations for employment of staff members, and/or dismissal of staff members.
3.2 Assignment refers to the initial placement of a staff member in a specific location and grade level or department in the District by the Administration.
3.3 Day shall mean a day that the District Office is open for business, unless otherwise specified herein.
3.4 Duty Day shall mean a day of service required by the adopted calendar.
3.5 Grievance is a formal written allegation by a grievant that he/she or LTA has been adversely affected by the misinterpretation, misapplication or violation of this Agreement. The content of an evaluation under Article 10 is not grievable.
3.6 Grievant shall mean a staff member covered by this Agreement filing a grievance.
3.7 Part-Time Teacher refers to any certificated hourly staff member assigned to work less than full time.
3.8 Permanent Teacher refers to a regular certificated staff member who has served not less than two (2) full consecutive school years and has reported to work the first day of the third school year.
3.9 Probationary Teacher refers to a certificated teacher who has been ratified by the school board and served less than two (2) full consecutive years in the District.
3.10 Reassignment is a change in the unit member's grade level and/or department assignment at the same school site.
3.11 Seniority is established as the first day of service to the District.
3.12 Shared Contract shall mean two (2) staff members sharing a full-time contract.
3.13 Substitute Teacher refers to a certificated staff member hired on a daily basis to replace a teacher of record. This category of staff member is not part of the unit.
3.14 Teacher refers to any certificated staff member who is included in the bargaining unit.
3.15 Temporary Teacher refers to a certificated teacher who has been employed to fill a temporary vacancy.
3.16 Transfer is a change in a unit member’s work location from one (1) school site to another school site.
3.17 Vacancy is either a newly-created position or an existing position becoming available by termination, resignation, or retirement when a position is to be filled on a regular basis (not by a substitute or temporary employee).
