Dear Adams Families,

Welcome to a new school year! Whether you are brand new to Adams or ready to begin your 6th year with us, we are delighted to have you as part of our community. At Adams, we believe that empowering children to reach their highest potential is a partnership between educators and parents. We dedicate ourselves to giving OWL students a high-quality education — engaging and nurturing, challenging and joyful — but we certainly can’t do it alone. We are committed to forging a close relationship with you so that together, we can ensure your child has a truly outstanding experience, from preschool through fifth grade.

This handbook is intended to give you a comprehensive overview of what to expect as an Adams parent at each stage of your child’s educational journey. Families can review all aspects of the K-5 experience: everything from arrival and dismissal to after-school clubs and events, to homework and classroom management routines. Knowing these policies and expectations will allow you and your student to thrive at Adams.

As educators, we have high expectations: We ask a lot of ourselves, and we ask a lot of our students. We also ask a lot of you. Beyond loving your child as you already do, your role as an Adams parent is straightforward but is also absolutely essential.  This includes: 

• Ensuring your child is at school every day and on time.

• Establishing a partnership with your child's teacher.

• Helping your child complete their homework.

• Reading with your child for at least 20 minutes every night.

We urge you to set aside some time to read through our handbook carefully.
