Staff members will model, expect, and enforce expectations by taking appropriate action when expectations are unmet. A standard set of core beliefs and principles identified by staff members serve as the basis for all decisions regarding the treatment of discipline problems.

Level 1 Behaviors:
Behaviors easily dealt with and taken care of in the classroom setting.

Mildly inappropriate interactions

Academic dishonesty
Level 2 Behaviors:
Behaviors should be dealt with first in the classroom. If a problem continues and the teacher is unable to teach through the disruption, an office refocus referral is appropriate:
Moderately inappropriate interactions
Defiance: running away, arguing, screaming
Disruptive: behavior that prevents others from learning
Bullying
Inappropriate computer use
Throwing objects
Nuisance Items (eg Electronic devices (cell phone), toys, objects etc.)
Level 1 and 2 Behavior Interventions
All teachers utilize classroom-level plans to promote appropriate behaviors and deter inappropriate behaviors. Teachers will notify individual students of inappropriate behavior and will take action accordingly.
1st Incident: Precision Requests from the teacher
2nd Incident: Teacher conference with explicit feedback (consequence at the discretion of the teacher)
3rd Incident: Reflection Form (parent contact by teacher/consequence at the discretion of the teacher)
4th Incident: Office Referral
Administration Managed Behaviors
Level 3 Behaviors:
Behaviors or Safe School Violations that should always be dealt with through the Principal (Mrs. Oviatt) and the School Operations Specialist (Annette Farley), and are always an automatic office refocus referral:
Aggression (towards peers or staff)
Weapons (including replicas i.e toys)
Bullying/Aggression
Bullying/Threats or intimidation
Bullying/Teasing, put downs, exclusion, slander
Verbal threat
Sexually inappropriate behavior
Property damage
Theft
Students who are a threat to themselves or others
Level 3 Behavior Interventions and Consequences
Students that fail to respond to classroom interventions will be given an office refocus referral. Students referred to refocus for chronic misbehavior and severe offenses will receive the following possible responses, interventions, and/or consequences:
A conversation with the principal
Meeting with Adams staff, the student, and a parent or guardian
A verbal or written apology
Non-participation in a school activity (which may include, but is not limited to, lunch, enrichment or extracurricular activities, sports, school events, or celebrations)
Letter of Reprimand
Lunch detention
In-School Suspension (ISS) (ISS parent phone call from Administration/ School Operations Specialist)
Out-of-School Suspension (OSS) (OSS parent phone call from Administration/ School Operations Specialist)
