Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP)

Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol Series - This four part series will be an exploration of the 8 components of SIOP. Class participants will be expected to collaborate with the cohort created through discussions. Participants will complete various assignments and write a reflection aimed at implementing the different components of SIOP in their classrooms to strengthen learning for their students. Additionally all badges will include projects and assignments designed to provide demonstration of mastery in a real world setting.

Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol # 1 - The purpose of this course is to give teachers an overview of research, the connection to Domain A of the Teacher Evaluation and classroom application utilizing activities to deepen student learning, especially English Language Learners.

Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol # 2 - The focus of this course is to provide teachers with a deeper dive into four of the eight components of SIOP that were introduced in the Badge 1 course. The components are: Lesson Planning, Building Background, Comprehensible Input, and Strategies.
