Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support (PBIS)

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Series - During this four badge series teachers will develop an in-depth understanding of the concepts of PBIS as well as the skills needed to implement the strategies in their own classrooms. Teachers will be expected to collaborate with the cohort created around the different courses. They will have various assignments aimed at exploring the elements of PBIS. Additionally all badges will include projects and assignments designed to provide demonstration of mastery in a real world setting.

Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support Badge # 1 - This course will be an exploration into the “what” of PBIS. The purpose of this course is to give teachers an overview of the elements of PBIS, and afford them an opportunity to implement these elements into their classes. The culminating assignment asks teachers to work in small groups to choose one element of PBIS to implement in the classroom.

Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support Badge # 2 - This course will be an exploration of how Classroom Structures are created and support a PBIS system. The purpose of this course is to give teachers an in-depth look at how classroom structures support instruction, and afford them an opportunity to reflect on how they structure their classrooms, and how they can enhance their instruction through structure.

Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support Badge # 3 - This course will be an exploration of how Classroom Expectations are created and support a PBIS system. The purpose of this course is to give teachers an in-depth look at how classroom expectations support instruction, and afford teachers an opportunity to reflect on how they create and maintain expectations in their classrooms and how they can enhance their instruction through consistent expectations.

Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support Badge # 4 - This course will be an exploration of how Classroom Culture is created and supports a PBIS system. The purpose of this course is to give teachers an in-depth look at how classroom culture supports instruction, and afford teachers an opportunity to reflect on how they create and maintain culture in their classrooms and how they can enhance their instruction through establishing a comfortable culture.
