AUTOMATION & ROBOTICS – 1 year

Be part of Rancho’s Robotics Competitive Team. Students will use Vex Robotics platform to design, build, and program everything from traffic lights to robotic arms. Students will compete against other schools as part of Rancho’s team. You won’t want to miss it!

V.A.T. (Voice Activated Technology with Alexa) – 1 semester

Build your own artificial intelligence. Learn how to use a personal voice assistant to make life easier and more fun. Be prepared for the future by knowing how to program voice activated technology. Alexa, sign me up for this class.

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION – 1 semester

Are you interested in being an architect or contractor? Interested in going green? Enter the world of construction! Through this course, students will design and build projects including a green home. Audodesk Revit, professional software, will be used to design and then students will actually build! Learn the tools of the trade and use them! This is a great hands-on elective!

MUSIC PRODUCTION– 1 semester

In this fascinating elective, students will learn how to use audio recording software, recording interfaces, microphones, and musical instruments to create and mix high quality audio. Where else will you be able to record live bands, live concert performances and produce CD’s of your own work? Be part of the only junior high elective in Audio Engineering anywhere! A voluntary donation of $25 is appreciated to maintain or replace program equipment.

ADVANCED COMPUTER SCIENCE – 1 year

In order to make things work, someone had to write the code! This computer programming course is a one year, hands-on course in which students learn college level computer programming. The course will cover topics such as program design, functions, loops, and Boolean logic. Java 1-8 language is used. Students will have the optional opportunity to take the Advanced Placement (A.P.) Computer Science test at the end of the course.
