ADVANCED SPANISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE - 1 year (0 period only and begins at 7:15 am)
This course immerses 7th and 8th-grade students in advanced Spanish language learning, fostering fluency through reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students engage with authentic materials—such as literature, media, and conversations with native speakers—and participate in interactive activities that promote meaningful communication. In addition to strengthening their language skills, students will deepen their cultural understanding by exploring the history, traditions, and current events of diverse Spanish-speaking communities. By progressively building proficiency and confidence, students will be well-prepared for the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam by the end of 8th grade. The course encourages critical thinking, real-world language application, and an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures worldwide. This course is open to all students with a strong foundation in Spanish. It is especially beneficial for students who have participated in the dual immersion program from TK through 6th grade, as it builds on prior language skills. All students eager to challenge themselves and develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish are welcome.
